Set within a protected desert nature reserve, The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert offers guests private tented villas that echo the Bedouin heritage of the Emirates — without compromising five-star comfort. Al Hamra Industries engineered and built the tented villa roofs and the resort’s entrance room canopy that define this distinctive architecture.

Each villa roof is a double-layer tensile system: an outer fly sheet sculpted into the classic desert tent silhouette, detailed with timber poles and traditional finials, over an insulated inner envelope. The fabric layers work together to reject solar heat, shed wind-blown sand and keep interiors cool and quiet through the extremes of the desert climate.

Building in a live nature reserve demanded careful logistics and a light footprint. Our teams fabricated the membrane panels and steelwork in Sharjah, then installed them on site with minimal disturbance to the surrounding dunes and wildlife — delivering a structure that looks effortless precisely because the engineering behind it is anything but.
